Unfortunately, issues have arisen with our original narrative that we developed and planned to complete, we have now found that it has encountered some major problems. After putting together a rough edit of our film with all the footage we had managed to get, we showed our focus group this. Throughout the editing process we had ensured ourselves that what we had would be sufficient and was of a reasonable quality. After watching it through with our focus group we came to a resounding decision that our current narrative and footage were not suitable to continue on with.
Due to the different times of filming the footage ended up feeling disjointed, despite the actors wearing the same clothing and thus it was obvious where some footage was all filmed at one time, and the voiceover was incredibly low quality at stages due to the different recording equipment we used. This combined with the issues we had involving some of the creative differences experienced amongst the group led to the final edit being inconsistent in its feeling ended up causing too many issues to be fixed in post production.
The group has decided to seperate and continue on with two different films as to ensure that there are no more problems like those that have been previously experienced. Myself and Connor shall begin to create a new film from scratch, keeping the psychological thriller genre but changing the storyline and setting entirely.

Focus Group
We have a small group of people aged between 16 and 25, and with equal gender distribution, to be our focus group for this project, consulting them about the production and seeing what they liked. As they cover the age of our target audience this allows us to adjust our film to make it more appealing to watch.
Already we have shown them the first draft of the script to which they provided criticism. They said that there was a lack of mystery throughout, causing a lack of engagement with the audience throughout. Another criticism they made was that the relationship between the main characters in the film was unclear and confusing.
These two things were adjusted in the second draft of the script, exploring the relationship between the characters while keeping an air of mystery to the script. In the next draft of the script, we were advised to completely change the ending, and we did so in accordance with their preference and the general criteria of psychological thrillers - that is, now the ending reflects something more of a mind in turmoil.
Since beginning to film, which we started on the 24th of october, we have met with our focus group to discuss the footage that we have, and we have decided that there needs to be a few more changes made, due to there not being enough script for the time that we have to fill, we have altered the storyline using our focus groups advice Hannah is now a figmant of Hectors imagination hinting towards his past which he is now having to face, this story line change has allowed us to come up with more of a story in the time we have to fill.

Target Audience - General Information
As a short film in the psychological thriller genre, the target audience we are aiming for is both males and females between 15 and 30. This allows for the encompassing of the two main thriller film certificates; 15 and 18. The ages of our target audience contains a large chunk of the thriller viewers, thus allowing us to appeal to a healthy audience size. With this knowledge we have formed our focus group of 10 people with an average age of 20 and no gender bias, even if the actual thriller viewer base is in fact slightly more aimed towards males. As the age of our target audience is so wide a range, due to the indiscriminate nature of those that watch the Thriller Genre and those that watch the Horror Genre, it is better for us to lean our prospective certificate towards the 15 age range; that is, to minimalise the exposure of certain items (swearing, nudity, and use of gore) so that it does not exceed the 18 certificate.

Short Film - The project involved.
My Team this year - Tabitha Beerling and Connor Sandum and Myself.
We have decided that the best option for us to complete this year would be the short film, the film has to be 5 minutes long and we have chosen to work in the genre of psychological thrillers as we feel that this would be best for the ideas that we have for our film.
During the task we not only have to complete the advanced portfolio (the five minute film) but we need to complete two ancillary tasks each, I have chosen to do a poster and a magazine review but of course all the research into the psychological thriller genre with codes and conventions, what we plan to do in our short film and the research for the magazines and posters, we have chosen to do the research for each thing together as it would make more sense and that way more information can be covered and three pairs of eyes are looking over the information.
